AMHA, AMHR Miniature Horses

The Miniature Horse

The American Miniature horse is a working breed.  They are registered by height.  The AMHA mini is registered up to 34” at the whither  The reason being, the cross shafts in the coal mines were 38” tall.

They are strong.  A single horse on the flat can pull two people for about ten miles with out breaking a sweat.  When going cross country I only put one person in the cart so that it does not overrun the horse going down hill.

Because it is a height breed you can find the color and body type of your choice.  You will find mini’s that  look like - miniature Morgans, Arabians, draft horses, quarter horses, and etc.  The key is to look at the picture of a mini that is “not” standing in front of something that will reflect their size.  You should not be able to tell if they are small or not a full size horse.

Dawg House Ranch

We have been raising miniature horses for fifteen years or more. We have on property generations of horses. We are always breeding for a good health horse. Although we do have some smaller horses the horse size we prefer are 32" to 34" tall.

Besides driving we have also shown. We use our horses to demonstrate and teach with.

Needless to say our horses travel.

Little Bit

Little Bit was moving to Farmington. He did really good in the car. You do have to watch for the eating of hats and hair.

If you try this. Take a camara! Watching the people watching the horse is great! It will put a smile on your face too.

Personalities

The personality of a miniature horse is that of a big horse. Depending on how they are handled they are warm, responsive, folk.

People do have the ability to ruin them. A hand fed horse will learn to bite!

A miniature that is treated like a "pet", rather than a horse is spoiled and "not" fun to be around.
