If you have ever studied human development the foal goes through the exact same stages as a human child. They just do it a lot faster.

I can reassure you that the 2 yr. old phase is just as tough as it was with your child. They want independence and they were not born with the word no in their vocabulary either. (What Fun!)

Gestation for a mare is 11 very long months. That last month can be wearing because you just can not watch (quietly and unnoticed) all night. Foals are quite often born early in the morning when the world is quiet.

You have about a 60% chance of getting a live foal and mare. Every thing in the miniature has been reduced but not quite. The size of the baby in relationship to the size of the mom is just a little larger in relationship to the mare. The babies sometimes have a hard time turning around.
